Merida Deluxe Gown by LadyAmber Merida Deluxe Gown by LadyAmber
Well, finally I've finished also Merida's gown! I was very busy in the last period so I had to complete the coloring little by little.
This princess has soooo many curly hair, and it was a hard work to highligt and shade them, they nearly make me cry!!! When I draw Rapunzel I thought that nothing could be worse, but now I can say that Merida's hair are actually the most difficult one that I've ever done!
So, for this princess at he beginning I thought to put her hair into an elegant hairdo with some lock that bump out to mantain her "rebel" look giving her a royal feeling at the same time, but at the end I prefered to keep her hair completely loose and free, adding only a circlet. No tiara this time because it couldn't stay on place in that messy hair.
As you can imagine I was inspired by the celtic culture for this outfit, because of the settings and the soundtrack of the movie.
The color choosen for the dress is dark green, "the" celtic colour, wich also shows up her beautiful red hair. I added some celtic knot-flowers on the front and a silver jewel belt (to recall her mother's look) with green gems that match the circlet.
I used some textures here: on the central panel, on the dress and on the sleeves.

Gorgeous! I really like the whole design... my only problem is that I feel like the skirt is a bit too poofy for the 1100s-ish time period of the movie; it looks a bit more renniassance. Not that that matters much: as long as it's what you were going for. But it's still beautiful, and the shading on her hair came out very well, so it was definitely worth your effort. :)

thank you so much! I know maybe the skirt line is a little too much poofy, I think this is because of my neverending love for rococÚ and civil war dresses!! I just can't draw a completely straight skirt!!! Please forgive me! :P

XD Like I said, it's still a gorgeous design. And hey, civil war dresses are amazing and poofier skirts are more fun to draw. You are forgiven.
